Top 5 Ways to Define Curly, Coily, Kinky Hair

Top 5 Ways to Define Curly, Coily, Kinky Hair. When curly hair is wet that is when it has the most curl definition, but once it is dry then the frizz comes leaving your hair puffy and especially if you have kinky coily hair it is harder to achieve a curly hairstyle after it drys without using moisturizing products such as gels, conditioners, and creams. I have spent years perfecting the right combination of techniques that works best on my curly hair. My hair type is 3b so when my hair is dry its harder to see my curl pattern without first using curl enhancers. Here are 5 ways I have found that works well for defining curly hair.1. Keep ends trimmed
The reason you will want to keep your ends trimmed is because your hair is porous and retains water, if your ends are damaged you will experience frizz and so even if you coat the hair with creams the hair will not have a smooth defined look. Keep your ends healthy for tame locks.2. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
It can not be emphasized enough the importance to using the right deep conditioners and oil treatments on your naturally curly hair, it is just a fact of life that kinky coily hair needs moisture in order to thrive and grow. Your ultimate goal is to avoid breakage and have elongated curls that shine instead of dull lifeless hair.3. Protect hair strands while you sleep
When you get ready for bed each night you will need to use a head covering such as a plastic cap or satin bonnet so that you can lock in moisture, avoid frizz and unnecessary friction while you sleep, because your pillow is usually made of cotton or fibers that will absorb all oils out of your hair, and this is not what you want at all.4. Avoid hair care products that have silicones, alcohol and mineral oils
Kinky coily curly hair is unmanageable when it is constantly abused day in and day out with drying hair products that strip your hair making it stiff, dry, and brittle. You have probably noticed how some of the gels, creams and conditioners you currently use make your hair feel hard, well that is because they have chemicals in them that inhibits hair growth, and coats the hair so that it can not retain the moisture that it needs, which results in you not having defined curls.5. Use natural hair oils
The best thing you can do for your hair is to use essential oils on your kinky curly hair, you will see amazing results, such as frizz will be drastically reduced and your hair will be easier to maintain and manage, some of the best natural oils include coconut oil, shea butter, almond oil, flaxseed oil, jojoba oils and olive oil. It is not necessary to use all these oils together, you can choose ones and rotate them for the best results in achieving springy, spiral curls.Educating yourself on how to take care of natural hair is the best way to learn ways to define curly hair.
