An American rock band formed in 1965, San Francisco, the Grateful Dead band was known for its eclectic and unique style. Their music was a fusion of rock, folk, country, reggae, improvisational jazz, and psychedelia amongst others. The founding members were Bob Weir, Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Ron Pigpen McKernan and Bill Kreutzmann.
The Grateful Dead became a fixture in San Francisco's Avalon Ballroom and Fillmore Auditorium by 1966. Amongst their many performances one of them was on January 29th 1967 along with the Hare Krishna founder Swami Bhaktivedanta at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.
They attracted a large concert following until the sudden death of Jerry Garcia in 1995, when the "Dead" decided to formally disband though there were reunions involving other musicians. Their peak was 1967 to 1995, when they were popularly known as "the Dead". Though Pigpen passed away in 1973 the others pulled it off together the entire 30 years, joined by others. In 1998 Weir, Lesh and Hart along with others formed a band called "The Other Ones" but eventually renamed themselves "The Dead".
One reason to flaunt the Dead tee shirts is to pronounce one's loyalties towards the band. Wearing the tees is a way of expressing and advertising your love for the rock band who converted from a jug band. When one wears one's favorite band tee shirt it shows how much the band means to them. The logo spells it all without speaking of it.
Another reason to sport the Dead tee shirts is to express who and what you are. It is a clear indication of your personality and your tastes. It tells others about you and the kind of music that inspires you. When a particular band member's face is printed on the tee it shows your inclination and favoritism. Again, sporting the special concert collages or performances shows which of their concerts you liked best.
The third reason behind wearing the Dead tee shirts is to express your admiration for the band. The band is known to improvise their music and songs never playing the same number exactly the way it was played earlier. Wearing their tee is a tribute to them. A tee with the name of a song flashed across the front again goes to express which of their numbers happens to be your favorite.
A fourth reason of wearing the tees is to express appreciation of the band for allowing their fans to record their shows. True it proved cumbersome for the official sound crew, but they resolved the issue. Concert and performance sites always have on display prints of the whole group or specific song names or album names.
The fifth reason is dedication. Obviously if you are steadfast in your dedication to the Vintage Grateful Dead, you would want to show it off by sporting their tee. Their tee shirts have a great choice of displays that would attract their fans to showoff their dedication by sporting the tee they wish to advertise.
