Wonderful Homemade Beauty Products

You will often see that the first thing someone notices about you is your skin. So it is very normal that you have to take proper care of your skin to feel good about yourself. Getting healthy, beautiful skin is not a problem; all you have to do is take care of it on regular basis. Your diet and lifestyle will greatly affect how your skin looks, but equally important are the beauty products that you use to exfoliate and moisturize your skin.

But the misconception most of us have is that the more money we spend, the better products we will get for maintaining healthy and glowing skin. There are many homemade beauty products which will give you similar good results (and sometime better) and you can make them at your home with things that lie in your kitchen!

Some of these things that you will need for making your homemade beauty products include items like olive oil, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and honey. These things are available in most kitchens already. Other than that, you will need essential oils, beeswax pellets and extra virgin coconut oil.

Almond oil, honey and brown sugar can be used for making a good body scrub. You will need two parts oil and one part honey and brown sugar. The mixture should be thick and the liquid should not be flowing. The almond oil can be replaced with extra virgin coconut, olive oil, jojoba or avocado oil. In place of brown sugar, you can use salt or granulated sugar. You can use this scrub to slough off dead skin while taking your shower or while in the bath. A glowing complexion from head to toe is guaranteed with this homemade scrub.

Another beauty product that will help you to get glowing skin is a honey mask. A radiant, healthy look is achieved by the usage of honey, which exfoliates as well as tightens the skin pores. For the mask, take about 2 tsp. of honey and rub it between fingers for a second or two. Now use a gentle massaging motion to apply this mask to your nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead. Be careful while using around the eye area and avoid the hairline and eyebrows. Keep the honey on your face for about 10 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water. Lastly, pat dry with a towel.

One of the most useful homemade beauty products that you can easily make requires corn starch, baking soda and extra virgin coconut oil. Use them together to get a great natural deodorant. Odor will be eliminated by the baking soda, while corn starch will get rid of any moisture. The coconut oil comes in a solid state naturally, so it is the perfect medium for combining these two elements in a stick form. It is also a good moisturizer for your skin.

The last tip is for great homemade beauty products is to make lip balms for your lips. The items you will need are beeswax pellets and essential oils. The former you can get in most craft stores while the latter is available in beauty stores. You can go for essential oils that are from "edible" sources, like orange, mint, raspberry or lemon. Melt the beeswax pellets and mix the essential oils in it while it is still liquid. Then pour it into a container and let it cool off.

Homemade Hair Treatment Options

Homemade Hair Treatment Options -

In order to maintain the health and beauty of your hair, it is important to keep hair properly conditioned and hydrated. While there are a large number of treatments available for purchase at drugstores and salons, many hair masks and moisture treatments can be made inexpensively at home. These mixtures provide a more natural means of taking care of your hair.

To begin with you need to understand the present condition of your hair. Extremely dry hair tends to absorb more moisture, but your individual results may vary greatly. Before trying a mask, apply a small amount of the mixture to a test strand in order to determine if the treatment is right for your hair.

Mediterranean  Hair Mask

  • Massage a teaspoon of olive oil into the scalp for about two to three minutes.

  • Then brush through the hair.

  • Wrap it in a towel for thirty minutes and then shampoo.

Fruit Hair Mask

To make a mask, combine one-half banana, one-half avocado, and a small amount of cantaloupe or other melon. Blend fruit thoroughly with a few tablespoons of plain, unflavored yogurt. Smooth evenly through hair and allow the mixture to sit for ten to fifteen minutes before rinsing thoroughly. The yogurt and avocado moisturize and condition the hair while the cantaloupe and banana encourage shine and manageability.

Fruits mixtures can  be used to enhance the health of your hair. The citric acid in many fruits adds shine to hair, while antioxidants help protect hair from harmful environmental toxins.

Note: if your hair is blonde or light brown, avoid dark fruit such as berries or grapes that can stain light hair.

Homemade Hair Treatment

Homemade Hair Treatment - There is nothing more horrifying than dull, dry, damaged hair. When you look at those lifeless tresses, you get upset. Then you feel like visiting a fancy spa and get a hair treatment done. However, hair spa treatment cost is very high. You have to shell out hundreds of dollars. A much better option is a hair spa treatment at home. It will require a few inexpensive ingredients that are easily available in our kitchens. Most importantly, they are naturally occurring substances, that can be safely used on hair.

Homemade Hair Spa Recipes

Before starting the treatment, prepare a hair oil, hair mask and a residue rinser at home. The recipes for these homemade hair care products are as follows:

Hair Oil
The ingredients needed for preparing this hair oil are half cup each of olive oil and some rosemary leaves. Put them in a small saucepan and heat it at a low flame. Stir it continuously till the oil becomes warm. After that, remove it from the heat and strain out the rosemary leaves. The oil should be applied on the hair when it is still warm to touch.

Hair Mask
The ingredients are: two eggs, honey and castor oil. Take a bowl, break the eggs into it and beat them thoroughly. Add a few drops of honey and castor oil into the beaten eggs and blend the ingredients properly.

Residue Rinser
This is used for rinsing the hair after shampooing. It is prepared with the help of 2 cups of distilled water, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, one tablespoon each of lemon juice and apple cider vinegar. Mix all these ingredients and stir well and the rinser for the hair spa at home is ready.

Hair Spa Treatment at Home

The main steps of hair care involves massaging oil, shampooing and conditioning of the hair. First of all, you have to massage the homemade hot hair oil on your hair and scalp for around ten minutes. Use your finger tips to apply the oil on your scalp. This oil massage will bring back the natural shine of your hair. if you are suffering from hair loss, then this treatment can control the problem. It is also good for eliminating dandruff.

Keep the oil on your hair for 15 minutes and then apply a mild shampoo which is suitable for your hair type. While applying the shampoo, massage your scalp one more time with your finger tips for 5 minutes. Wait for 2-3 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water. Never use hot water on your hair, as it often leads to dry scalp.

Shampooing should be followed by application of a good quality hair conditioner. It is applied for the purpose of softening up the hair. The conditioner should stay on the hair for 2-5 minutes. Then wash it off thoroughly, with plain water first, and then use the residue rinser that you have prepared. This will help to cleanse up all the residues of shampoo and conditioner and also add bounce to your tresses.

Occasionally, give a special treatment to your hair with a hair mask. The recipe of the hair mask has already been mentioned in the previous section of the article. Apply the mask on the hair and scalp in the form of a thin layer. Keep you head covered with a shower cap for the next one hour. Then steam your hair to ensure better absorption of the nutrients into the hair. For this, dip a towel in hot water and wrap it on your head for 15 minutes. Then use the distilled water residue rinser to wash out the hair mask.

After the hair spa treatment at home is over, do not use a hair dryer for drying the hair. Rather, allow it to dry naturally in air. Finally, use a wide toothed comb to brush hair. Now, you will be able to notice the difference in your hair condition. You will find that the damaged look of the hair is gone and is replaced by a healthy looking, beautiful hair!

Turn Your Regular Shampoo Into a Homemade Herbal Shampoo

Turn Your Regular Shampoo Into a Homemade Herbal Shampoo - Hair Care products have become an integral part of our lives. If we do not have one, we feel incomplete and now we have so huge a range to choose our products from that we get confused what to use. Shampoo is the basic need to clean the scalp. Ultimately, almost every person on Earth has used all the products which are within their budget for all kinds of hair problems like hair loss to avoiding scalp infections. But, hardly does any shampoo work wonders the way we want. And, if they do, after regular usage, our hair gets immune and the products stops working in 'oh-so-marvelous' ways.Every one must have read about all the hype today that you should not use products having 'this-and-this'. Sodium Laureth Sulphate tops the list and unfortunately, it is in almost every shampoo. And, yes, the excessive chemicals used to create the shampoo products are actually very harmful for our hair. The chemicals may cause anything from hair loss to scalp infections. And, they create build up on our hair too which starts weighing our hair down after certain period of time. Keeping all these in mind, I always try to find a herbal shampoo. But, the sad part is that even though it is mentioned to be a herbal shampoo, that does not lessen the possibilities of chemical usage in them too. So, it is always better that we make herbal shampoos at our home. Many people would advise you to dilute your shampoo and then, apply on your hair. This would decrease the harmful effects of the chemicals. Now, you can use herbal water to dilute your shampoo. I have found out a way to create a herbal water at home without much of a mess and using only the most widely available natural ingredients. Some of the ingredients are Indian Gooseberry (amla), fenugreek leaves and seeds (methi), curry leaves, sage leaves (tulsi), hibiscus flowers and leaves. They are all boiled in water and stored. Whenever you use your shampoo, take the desired amount in a bowl and dilute it with a bit of the herbal water. The herbal water is laden with ingredients good for our hair. So, the usage of this method will improve the health of the hair. The herbal water can prevent hair loss due to the ingredient 'fenugreek' and promote hair growth due to the presence of 'Indian Gooseberry'. The herbal water conditions our hair and improves its health because of 'Hibiscus'. So, go ahead and try it and see the results.Word of Caution: Do not use any active ingredient in it as they have short shelf life and they may spoil your shampoo too.
